State Representative Jay Livingstone named “Champion” for Choice by Planned Parenthood Massachusetts

BOSTON — Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts released their annual Legislative Scorecard highlighting a “strong support for reproductive rights in the Massachusetts Legislature.” It named State Representative Jay Livingstone, representing the 8th Suffolk District, as one of its “Champions” on issues regarding reproductive rights.

According to a press release issued by the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts last week, the criteria are as follows:

“The Scorecard assigns each Massachusetts state representative and senator a rating of ‘champion,’ ‘ally,’ ‘mixed,’ ‘opponent,’ or ‘not enough information.’ To create the Scorecard, PPAF looked at each legislator’s lifetime voting record and co-sponsorship history, public statements, and other factors, including their responses on PPAF’s candidate endorsement questionnaire.”

“It was great to work with Planned Parenthood last session to pass the buffer zone bill as well as support women’s health issues in the budget. I look forward to working again with Planned Parenthood this term on these important issues,” said Rep. Livingstone.

This term Rep. Livingstone continues to advocate for women and women’s health. He is lead House sponsor for An Act to Establish Pay Equity to help eliminate the gender wage gap and he is co-sponsor on:

  •  An Act Relative to Healthy Youth
  • An Act Relative to Protecting Access to Confidential Health Care
  • An Act Relative to Women’s Health and Economic Equity
  • An Act Relative to Updating the Public Health Laws
  • An Act Relative to Improving Health Care for Young Women
